Yambeka Children Media Ambassador (YCMA)

Being an ambassador for Yambeka Children Media (YCM) is like having a second family; one that you are not related to, yet everyone has each other’s’ backs.

It's like meeting and being around people that think like you and who want to make a change in society, just like you. This has been, by far, the most amazing thing about being an ambassador.

Equally important, the role of being an ambassador for YCM has been like stepping into a library full of wondrous books, bolstered by the sheer fact that I am a bookworm. I for one have had even more fun being part of such an amazing team, with sweet, caring and amazing people that are unique in their own way.

All YCM ambassadors have their own special skills which makes them more unique. While we have ambassadors that enjoy writing and others whose love for reading takes the edge, the most important thing is that we are a team that is willing to adjust and apply changes where necessary to ensure the future of Namibia has both beauty and brains plus a little love for reading.

We are generational thinkers. We make decisions that benefit us in the present and make sure the future is filled with amazing pages of wonderful tales to write and tell.

One great thing about being an ambassador is that you get all the current and previous books written by the lovely and talented Helvi Itenge. Helvi Itenge is the founder of YCM and she is the face behind the amazing books that you have read or seen. She is the brains of it all.

Our main aim as YCM ambassadors is to make sure that more Namibian kids develop the love of reading and are willing to make changes to see this happen. As ambassadors, we also embarked on a mission to encourage young minds to read and make changes to help spread the untold tales of YCM’s amazing books throughout the whole country.

As an ambassador I have learned more than school could possibly teach me. I have learnt that team work is the only way forward and two brains are better than one. I have learned that the world is only as big or as small as you make it, because it is your eyes that see it all. Being a YCM ambassador is the best thing anyone can ask for and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
